What the app keeps for your pigs
Each pig has its own record with the number the app assigns (for example POR-01), name, breed, sex, date of birth and category, such as Breeding or Meat. Everything that happens to it is recorded from there and stays in its history.
- Weights and daily gain. You note the weight, from a scale or a tape, and the app works out the daily gain between weighings and the growth curve. On the Pro plan it estimates when the pig will reach 110 kg and flags it on its record if it falls behind.
- Matings and farrowings. You record heat, natural mating or insemination, the pregnancy check and the farrowing. The expected farrowing date is worked out for you; to get a notification, create a reminder for that date.
- Health with withdrawal periods. Vaccines, deworming and treatments with product, batch, dose and vet. If the product has a withdrawal period, the app counts the days for meat.
- Kilos of meat. The quick log takes the kilos of meat in a few seconds, for the whole farm, one pig or one pen. In Products you see today’s total and the last 7 days; monthly and 3-month totals are on the Pro plan.
- Accounts per pig or per pen. You log each sale, bag of feed or vet bill with a category and a description, and assign it to the whole farm, to one pig or to one group. Selling a pig books the income to that animal, and on the Pro plan the cost of each treatment is booked as an expense.
Animals, weights, meat, accounts, assigning them to a pig or a group, and up to 2 groups are on the free plan. Monthly meat totals, the balance per animal and per group, breeding records, health records with withdrawal periods and weight projections are part of the Pro plan.
Sows and fattening pens
Pigs are sorted into groups, just as on the farm: the breeding sows, the fattening pens. On the Pro plan each group has its weight analytics, so you know whether the fattening pen is gaining weight at the rate you expect. Feed and sales can be assigned to each pen, and on the Pro plan each group’s record shows its income, expenses and balance and its production over the last 30 days: with that you know what each pen costs you and what it leaves.
A fattening pen can also be a group counted by quantity: a running total that you update with births, purchases, deaths, sales, culls and adjustments. Pigs in a quantity group do not count toward the free plan’s limit of 50 animals, but the group does count toward its 2 groups, and weight analytics need registered animals.
To work out a farrowing date without opening the app use the due date calculator. To weigh without a scale, use the weight tape calculator and the guide how to weigh cattle without a scale.
Record in the field, sync when you reopen it. For now, wait for the app to finish syncing before you close it. How it works today.
